How to Use Your Shoulder Machine (Optiflex S)

Shoulder recovery doesn’t have to feel complicated. The Optiflex S Continuous Passive Motion (CPM) machine is designed to help your shoulder heal comfortably by gently moving the joint through a safe, controlled range of motion.
At CityDME, our goal is to make every part of your recovery straightforward — from setup to daily use. Whether you’re using your Optiflex S for the first time or just need a quick refresher, this guide walks you through each step.

Equipment prescribed for a NY claim?
Send the referral and the Brooklyn desk reviews it the next business day during business hours. Prescription required.

- Always use your Optiflex S exactly as prescribed by your doctor or therapist.
- Make sure you’re seated or reclined comfortably before starting.
- Check that the device is plugged in securely and that the control unit screen is visible.
- Keep your remote control within easy reach.
If you ever need assistance with setup or operation, contact CityDME — not your doctor — for equipment support.
Step 1 — Find the Menu
Press the “Menu” button on your control panel. This brings up the main operating screen where you’ll see your adjustable settings.

Step 2 — Select the Up-Arrow Option
Locate the button directly beneath the up-arrow icon (▲) and press it to enter range-of-motion settings.

Step 3 — Increase the Degree Setting
Press and hold the “+” (plus) button until the degree number increases by 5. Then press “Start.” Your machine will now begin moving your shoulder gently through the selected range of motion.
CityDME Tip: Adjust settings only as directed by your provider — slow, steady progress helps build flexibility safely.
General Use After Setup
- To start your session: Press “Start” again.
- To increase range: Every day, your doctor may recommend adding 5 degrees — just repeat Steps 1–3.
- During use: Relax. The Optiflex S provides passive motion, meaning the machine does the work — you simply let it guide your arm.
You should feel a mild stretch, never pain. Stop the session and contact your provider if you experience discomfort.
